I love clocks! I love the beauty of their hand painted faces. I LOVE their tick-tocks. I love the fact that they need to be wound once a week. I love the history behind each clock----
This is the first clock we purchased after we moved into our current home. It is an English grandfather clock and it was built in 1870. Since our home was built in 1873 it felt like it belonged here. It sits beside our front door.
We purchased this German clockmaker years ago from a furniture store. He has so much personality!
This is not one of more expensive clocks but I love it just the same.
This is one of our more recent additions. I wish you could hear its chime! I would have moved it to a more attractive location for this photo but for those of you who know old clocks know that once they are happy and keeping good time it is best to leave them alone.
Even this little clock by my bed I love!
Look at the time! Best get going...
Oh, I love clocks too. You do have some real beauties. I have part of my mother's collection and they are real treasures to me. Thanks for sharing yours. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection. I love hearing old clock with their ticks and chimes, digital just doesn't do it for me haha. I didn't know that you shouldn't move them around much, but it makes sense with the delicate movements. Thanks for sharing these! Kathy
ReplyDeleteOh...I love old clocks, too! I've been thinking about doing a post about some of mine. :-) Your's are soooo pretty...love the English Grandfather clock. I do love the sound of the ticking and the chiming...so wonderful. It's funny how you get so used to them that you don't even hear them sometimes...they are a part of the rhthym of the home. Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Paula, there is nothing like the sound of a clock I find it so soothing. It isn't a reminder to me of time passing but of the steady and faithfulness of its beat and its willingness to let me know what time it is if I make myself aware of the passing time. All of your clocks are gorgeous but the grandfather clock is a favorite of mine.Kathysue
ReplyDeleteMy brother had a collection of clocks when he left to join the Master timekeeper and my sister hasn't completed her collection as yet. I have to admit that I have my fair share as well. None of mine have more than sentimental value, but they all have special meaning to me.
ReplyDeleteMy husband has two very special clocks that were awarded to him for 25 and 30 years of service on his job. We have a busy evening when the time changes twice a year.
Oh Paula...what beautiful clocks you have! I love them all....but especially your grandfather clock! Have a great weekend...Debbie
ReplyDeleteOh boy! You do have some lovely clocks! I am crazy for them too! Your grandfather clock made me weak in the knees! Vanna
